Effective Phone Communication Skills/Before You Hit Send

 

OVERVIEW

Personal communication styles have become much more casual with texting and shooting off a quick email becoming the norm. This course reviews the importance of (1) having strong phone skills and (2) the importance of proper email etiquette in the workplace. This workshop is for new hires and/or a refresher for existing employees. 

 

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Effective Phone Communication Skills

In this course, participants will learn to:

  • Separate social versus business phone styles.

  • Become aware of the differences between face-to-face and voice-only communication.

  • Understand how nonverbal communication and cues matter on the phone.

  • Use proper etiquette when it comes to conference calls and video conferencing.

  • Decide what technology to use and when.

  • Effectively use voice skills to convey messages.

  • Communicate and understand office policies.

  • Manage structured dialogue on the phone.

  • Leave a succinct voicemail message.  

 

Before You Hit Send

Participants will learn to:

  • Delineate styles: social versus business emails.

  • Write a compelling subject line.

  • Position a message.

  • Use attachments effectively.

  • Create parallel structure.

  • Manage the audience. 

  • Determine the appropriateness of an email and emojis.

  • Understand how to create the proper tone.
